Gas station chicken, donut cone ice cream, hot bagel nerds

Good morning, Chat!

On my way to Ol'kowski's for coffee this morning, I saw a loose chicken running around the Texaco station. Just a normal day in Newark -- IYKYK.

The mornings have actually started to feel like fall this week and I'm here πŸ‘ for πŸ‘ it πŸ‘

Yes I got a pumpkin pie latte. Yes I put my spiced whiskey candle on the warmer. Yes I'm wearing a beanie as I write this.

Is it premature? Probably.

But cozy season is upon us and we must prepare!!!!

This weekend is Labor Day so I'm excited to show you a few things you might want to do if you don't already have plans to go to a cookout where your problematic uncle will definitely have too many Lone Stars and maybe even break a brittle plastic lawn chair.

As always, hit reply and let me know what you're up to! I wanna know everythingggg.

Big love,
Jen
🎱

P.S. Did you know I made a πŸ“Google Maps List that includes literally every link I feature in here? Go check it out :)))

Picture this: It's Labor Day weekend, you're excited to eat smoked ribs, chips & queso, drink a ranch water, etc. But you wake up Sunday morning to covered in sweat, hair stuck to the back of your neck.

Your AC decided to take the day off, too. Yikes 😬

Luckily, you don't have to call a corporate, faceless company who won't be back in the office until Tuesday -- you call the guys at BCB and they'll be right out to diagnose the problem.

Even better, they'll bring you a portable A/C unit to use until they get your up and running again.

Follow them on Facebook and bookmark it so you're ready when you need it >>

🀠 Local Lowdown

  • I was so excited to realize that the Bonds Ranch connection between 287 and Harmon is open again!!! Please stop doing construction there, I'm begging you (whoever's in charge of that).

  • Can we talk about MixMatch for a second???? This place looks so freaking cute and I can't wait to check it out. They just opened so I haven't made it down there yet (and I'm not famous enough for them to invite me as an influencer)... but I plan to check it out asap.

One thing about me, I'm always going to say yes to ice cream. I need it in my life on hot days, cold days, and everywhere in between.

When I was pregnant, I gained about 60lbs and my doctor suggested I cut out sugar/ice cream to which I said HOW DARE YOU.

Anyway, I am super excited to try this new European-style soft serve situation called Crispy Cones in North Richland Hills. This place was featured on Shark Tank and now they're bringing Czech-inspired sweet treats to us here in the wild west.

I haven't gone yet, but I hope to check it out this weekend! If you go pls let me know what you think! I'll report back 🫑

πŸš— Worth the Drive

Have you been to Three Wide Brewing yet? Tonssss of TVs (I'm thinking this will be great when football starts in a couple weeks) and an in-house kitchen!

Located right next to Texas Motor Speedway, you could totally get tipsy and then drop some cash at the outlet mall and call it a weekend well spent.

Each week, I ask the Chat Groupies to submit a review for somewhere cool they checked out recently. Last week, Maddie shared this:

"I would lay my life on the line for the french toast at Mel's Place in Boyd."

Same! I dream about their burgers and fries.

✨ Steal My Weekend Plans

It's supposed to rain all weekend -- can't decide if I'm happy or sad about it lol but I do intend to make the most of it as usual...

  1. Fridays are for ordering Uber Eats and watching a movie! Is it going to be K-Pop Demon Hunters? Probably. But I can't pretend it's not a good movie so I'll let the child believe it's her idea to watch it.

  2. On Saturday, wake up and drive down to Boopa's Bagels in Watauga. I know, it's so random but TRUST me when I say it's worth it. The staff there is gloriously passionate about their bagel knowledge, it's kinda hot tbh.

  3. Sunday isn't so scary this week -- shoutout to the holiday weekend! Let's get really crazy and hang out a brewery perhaps? Wild Acre, Martin House, or Three Wide would be great options, especially if you need to bring the kids along.

Good morrow, Chat! Summer's coming to an end (should someone tell the sun??? I'm ready for *hot* lattes and flannel) and there's plenty of cute things to do around these parts before we settle into the chaos of the 'ber months. If you sent kids back to school this week, enjoy going to the bathroom alone and eating a snack out in the open! Personally, I'll be dreaming of the birria tacos I had in Southlake (more on that below). Am I the only one who gets a thrill from finding a freaking gem of...
